2008 Yaris clutch issue

Hi everyone, Excuse my newness, this may have been covered before. I have an 08 Yaris SR. When I start it in the morning it goes into reverse no problem, as the day progresses it becomes more and more crunchy. If the clutch is gubbed fair enough but it doesn't slip and why is it ok after a long rest? any ideas. Iy has done 60000 miles Thanks for looking
