Screeching sound

I was driving along the motorway on Thursday and after about 60 miles or so, I heard a loud screeching type of noise coming from the passenger side of the car. I have a 2010 Auris 1.33. I was doing about 70mph, and when I slowed down to about 60mph the noise stopped. After about 10 miles or so the noise stopped completely. I kept it to about 60mph for the rest of the journey and I heard nothing more. We're on holiday in West Wales and I have done another 40 miles since the noise, but have still heard nothing more, and believe me when I say that I'm listening out for it! OK I haven't gone much over 50 given the roads I've been driving on.

I have looked under the car and checked the suspension as much as I could (if anything, some of the roads around West Wales are testing it for me!). I can only think that some element of the braking system could be sticking, but why does it only become apparent at high speed?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.

Cheers, Gaz

Probably just a stone stuck between the pad and disc, causing it to resonate at a certain speed.

Presumably your profile needs changing from the Corolla to the Auris.
