whats with the plastic under thingy

hello Corolla people 

I really like my corolla, but recently its has had a prolapse (or lack of a better word...soz) ...like all the black plastic under stuff is falling down and wheel arch linings are out of the wheel arch metal bit ... I taped it up...yep that sounds safe!!!!..and took it to my local mechanic who tied it up with cable ties I think...but its coming down again...so took it to toyota deeler and they are going to charge me $1000 to replace

Can i just cut this plastic stuff off???

Wouldn't recommend it, otherwise all the mud and dust and crap from your wheels will get thrown into your engine bay etc...

 

Why are they falling down? Are they damaged? If so, a replacement set from a breakers yard would be the way to go.

If it's just the bolts and plastic pop-fastners have all come out, would be better to get these replaced; The pop-fasteners can be had on eBay pretty easily and the bolts and screws are fairly standard sizes IIRC.
