Hi all

Wanting to replace the PAS belt on my 2001 D4D as belt cracked internally . Looks like its removing RH wheel arch cover, but then what ? - is there a guide anywhere, or has anyone done this before - any suggestions. Particularly looking at ho wto tighten new belt / torque values. While I'm down there is it worth doing the alternator belt as well ?

Many thanks

This covers the belt adjustment (sort of...). The belt will come off by backing off the adjuster. It will hoop over the crankshaft pulley. From what I can see there's no reason to remove the lower shields. Everything can be done from above. Don't worry too much about torque settings - most adjustment bolts on these type of pulley systems just need to be snugged up.

Hi Gazza

Many thanks for this, very useful. I did find that after ferreting around that the adjuster was underneath the alternator, and has a huge range of adjustment. In the end I went with 10mm slack, this seems to have done the trick.

The other interesting thing was the HUGE price range for exactly the same Contitech belt - beware of main dealers !

Cheers
