Had to repaint /spray one of the rubbing strips on the rear door, so intially used the spray cans from Halfords and the colour match was barely acceptable and worse , regardless of what we tried, it always managed to spit out some bits of paint which spoilt the finish as they would not rub down properly ( hard to explain)

Anyway, ordered a can of 1C0 from the local Toyota dealer and, after rubbing down and new primer, it sprayed on ok, the only problem was it looks like a totally different shade of silver, even lighter than Halfords, even the neighbour thought it I had used his bmw silver its so different.

Looking on the forum/web have seen some old comments basically confriming what I have found, but some suggesting the some of the third party paint suppliers  do seem to offer a much a better colour match and also saying that toyotas match are very poor ?!

Whats not said is who these third party folk are, or were.  Has anyone experience of some current spray can paint supplier that is good with paint matches , partic toyota  1C0 ?

Halfrauds colour match was shocking for my Ixion Blue too, Toyota wasn't a great deal better. Dr ColourChip was okay up until you got quite close (say 2-3ft), and is the best of the three I've tried. Of course you might struggle to get sufficient paint from them, so apologies for this not entirely helpful post!

Thanks, as you say, one for the touch up paints, but they do not seem to do the paint in the spray cans I need for the larger area.

Probably a touch on the expensive side, but have you tried a bodyshop? They might be able to mix up something that isn't abysmal?
