Change position of the back of passenger seat in a 3-Door Corolla

Since my Corolla has replaced my normal car, the girlfriend has struggled to become accustomed to it. The biggest issue she has with the car (apart from her moaning that it looks s**t - it's a 22 year old car with oxidised paint that I haven't had chance to sort out for goodness sake) is that it's a 3-Door car compared to the usual 5-Door cars I have driven. In the morning she usually opened the rear passenger door and dumped her bags on the back seat, now she flips the handle of the passenger seat to access the back of the car and dumps the bags. After she pushes the front seat back so she can sit in the car the back of the seat always resets itself to a 90 degree angle which she doesn't like. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the seat back being at that angle either.

So, is there anything I can do to adjust the degree that the back of the seat returns to? I'd be looking to adjust it so it returns to about an 80 degree position. It's a 1998 Corolla (E11).

Just hold the lever that allows the seat back to be moved as you return it to its 'normal' position, instead of just pushing it back.

Is there not a way to adjust it mechanically?

Not that I'm aware of, or heard of. In any case, simply holding the handle as you do it is certainly easier.
