Hand Brake not holding

Hi all my Sons Yaris 2005 1.3 colour collection has a very poor hand brake , I took both rear wheels off last night I think the hubs maybe worn as well as the shoes I have adjusted the cable which has helped,my concern is it maybe the hand brake cable's which may have stretched  not much fun changing them by the looks of it, the reason I think its the hand brake cable is that when the hand brake is pulled up it goes up a long way and also the bracket that the cables go into hits against the hand brake switch, any advice would be gratefully received

Assuming you have the drum-in-disc rear brakes, you should have adjusters for the handbrake shoes, probably a single barrel with serrated nut in the centre. You should always adjust up the shoes first before you do the handbrake cable(s).

Cheers for that I wasn't  sure if I could adjust them up a bit I haven't had my spanner's out for many years so it's old school when it comes to drums many thanks
