The alarm just went off on my 2010 iq2, wasn't even aware it had an alarm but I guessed it was the Battery in the key fob needed replacing. I've replaced the Battery and the doors unlock and engine starts however when I try to lock the doors using the fob the alarm on the car goes off for about 10 or 15 seconds also there is a red light on the dash indicating the doors are unlocked.

Any ideas how I get everything working again ?

Not sure if I am remembering correctly, but I think if you start the engine again and switch off it will have reset itself?

I might be tottaly wrong though?

If the red light is showing a door is open, that is your issue. You will need to find out which one it is, maybe work your way around the car closing the doors and see if the light goes or stays. Are you sure your not getting it mixed up with the alarm blinking light?

Sorry for the late reply, It appears that the light that is now flashing on my dash board is something to do with the doors being reported open even though I have forcibly slammed the all the doors shut. This light has now started to intermittently start flashing while I am driving the car, has anyone else encountered this before. The light that is flashing is the one that is a red outline of the car with the doors open.

So its either boot, bonnet or doors. Check the doors first. There is a switch on the doors that can be pushed in when the door closes. If you push it in manually you can see if its working. Normally a seatbelt gets jammed between door and switch and damages door enough to to prevent enough force being used to push switch in.

Yes I guessed those switches had something to do with it, I have tryed pressing them in manually to see if it cleared the problem. So on my trip to work this morning there was no sign of the light flashing on my dashboard, hopefully it may have just been something that screwed up when I changed the Battery in my key fob, the car is due to get serviced next month so I'll see if it reocurrs and get it rectified then. Thank you for your help.
