When is a petrol injector rubber not an injector rubber?

When you buy a replacement from your local Toyota dealership.

In the picture you'll see my original (I know it's original as I've had the car since new) injector and you would assume that a replacement rubber seal (arrowed) direct from my local dealership would fit. Well, when I bought four new rubbers I spotted that the replacements were slightly small and without the lip. After I pointed this out the guy at Toyota insisted they were the same.  So I fit the new ones and, hey presto, petrol leaking everywhere.  Stupid me thinks, I must have not connected the injectors correctly ( I know, pretty hard not to ) so I re-did the work and....another leaking injector rail. So now I put the old ones back on and........leak free.  

My problem is the nice guy at Toyota (the one who sold me the smaller rubbers without the lip) still insists they are all the same.....................

So, Toyota what's the deal?

The latest year I could find was 2009 and there are two engines. Both covered above and right hand drive only.
