Carina E Tank Capacity

Hey ya!

I want to know certain things:

The petrol tank of a Carina is of 60 litres, this is counting or not couting the reserve?

Also, the manual says that the scale of the gauge goes from almost empty to almost full, so my question is how much petrol there should be in the tank if the gauge marks almost empty???

Because the other day the reserve light was on and the gauge was marking exactly almost empty, and I could fill it up with 57 litres, but to the top. So how much there was in the tank at that time??

Cheers

couldnt find the exact capacity in the haynes manual (just says 60lts), but most of the cars I have had usually give you around 8lts reserve. As for the tank reading almost empty, sounds a bit ambiguous to me

I think it is 60 litres with the reserve..When the gauge is at the top corner of the E(Empty) the tank has about 5 litres of petrol..But i think the gauge of carina is silly because especially when it is in te 1st quarter it can change in a moment and show tha it is full then again go down etc.. :ffs:

I often thought it was intelligent?!

Once I took a 90 degree turn at such a high speed the petrol mark before the turn was 1/4 and after the turn the empty light came on!

Well thanks all for sharing the experiences with me.

The normal operation of the gauge is that you expressed.

The thing is, I really dont know when the light goes on, Think it is when remains 5-7 litres ( I get it now...).

Ok, thanks everybody for the responses!!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
