Hi I'm a new Toyota Previa GS 1994 owner.

I've lost.the top? or bottom of the rear shock absorber when I backed over an orange cone..the shock absorber is now loose and rattles...it appears the fastener between the shock absorber and the frame near the wheel itself has fallen off..I thought it would be fastened bu a bolt but it looks like some sort of holder with  pieces,of rubber as I still have the other side to compare with.

I was wondering if the Toyota dealer sell this part and what it is called?I cant seem to.find a manual online..

Aftermarket shock absorbers are affordable but are they easy to change?Maybe someone knows of a good scrap yard that has previas in Berkshire...shame to change the whole shock just for the fastener...

Your best bet is to go to any mechanic and get the job sorted. Removing shock absorbers can require specialist 'Spring suppressing' tools.

I've already taken it off...just needed a 15mm open end spanner and a jack...along with my arm muscles as a spring suppressing tool. Will order new ones and replace both next week...think it will be ok to drive for a few days in this way

Seems like you wrote your original question in haste and before attempting to tackle it.

I was hoping someone would have a part nearby so I wouldn't have to remove the shock..just put the fastener on near the wheel nearby.

I will put aftermarket shocks on and see how it fares...the dealer wants £125 pounds to replace one shock absorber...it takes about 10 minutes to do a side so I find it quite expensive..think aftermarket shocks will be about £50/pair..just was hoping to keep the original shock on as it is still working perfectly....and the toyota dealer will not sell the fastener seperately..at least not the one near me..

Will you be changing both shocks?

keep the original and search online breakers or eBay. One is bound to come up then you can replace it if the aftermarket ones are poor.

Yes the other one will take longer as have to remove the spare wheel...:)
