Nice pics, I can tell you really enjoy it! My friend from DSRLeasing was rolling in one as well few years ago, very stable and fun to drive car. Cheers

Hello my friend

Yes... The car is epic & every day I drive it another mile I'm reminded it was 'under offer' to go off, hi-abbd on a transit for Banger Racing. My blood is chilled at the thought

Glad you like my ramblings

Looks more like you were going 31mph in a 30mph zone and your friendly traffic speeding officer took a friendly photo for you ;)

..... I was allowing 'anxious' Cit driver to move away from kerb - anxious? Aye, well, the car you see just in picture fairly whangged by him..nearly annexing a door mirror

.... lobbed a few bob on Amazon, attempting to smarten up the Exhaust

Mock Up when the thing [finally!] arrives.... Amazon cancelled the first order, different shape, as 'unavailable'

Ah well....

I went to smarten my exhaust, ended up being relieved of £250 for a stainless steel sports back box. Not sorry :P

Aye... I landed a 'recent new ex fitted' with my P&J

Stainless will be a painful venture in (hopefully) the dim distant!

It arrived.... Slight Phail

It is advertised as '48MM fit' ... the pipe is EXACTLY 48MM (same as my exhaust exit)... so is a dead butt-fit!!

Bit of slicing and dicing (to make it a 'reducer') and it is on [required a mighty whack with a mallet!!]

Do for me.....

My daughter salvaged this off an old, fragged Escort-of-Doom (North Sea oil rig Orange..FFS) and kept it in an oddments drawer... she gifted it to me and I used & abused it for a couple of years on my SuzukiSwift 3-potta (... after an 850 mini, that has to be an introduction to 'frantic porridge stirring!!) then it went back into my oddment drawer for the last 10 years of my Proton Savvy ownership [wrong type of mount for the Clio stick].

I see the 'R' denotes Ripspeed....

I wrapped a particularly chewey strip of plastic round the threads and pressed the knob down + twist... nice tight fit

Lovely feel vs weight.

Full MOT passed.... No Advisories :balloon:

Front section of exhaust is getting 'frilly' and I have lost most of the gills in my radiator (not leaking though  )

Bought a brand new Corolla rad for £18 delivered.... eBay!

See how that fits... Eh?

Just called in at the ex place, as I was passing, and my pipe has just arrived. Leaning against the wall, actually.

Rough as a badgers >> no rust spots anywhere and mild steel pipe ends shiney... reckon it is a 'to order', fabbed within these last few days.

He has my two 'olives' and gaskets = fitting Tues 2pm.

Hey mate, good deal on the rad. Does it fit ok, or haven,t you tried it yet? My Carina is on MOT this Thursday

Rad is E9 spec (I have checked the width.. a little narrower) but compatible.

Fitting Thursday at the MOT place.... We Will See

Ha Ha!

She'll be right mate, bit of gorilla glue will sort it

Business end...

UNFORTUNATELY (fortunately..!) the fitter was their MOT guy....

37569985076_b3806bfa9b_c.jpg

.... he wasn't too enamoured of this lot! The fuel lines [front ones in this picture] are shagged but not MOT...

His advice is to track back under the plastic cover, along the floor >> back a foot (pipes are mintty) >> and get a section of new brake pipe joined/running back to the rear end. He did note that the pipes must be 'correctly restrained/clipped' per factory [good as..] so I better be careful with the plastic clips.

... Carina fix too!

Will inquire at my garage, when the radiator is fitted on Thursday.  icon_confused.gif

Car dropped off for rad fitting & they are 'squeezing me in' for replacement rear brake pipes/bleeding.

Fuel pipes (not pressurised, as carb = draw + return) will be sorted as required.

The business end looks very wet. Is that just from all the WD40 they sprayed on the exhaust bolts?

My cambox gasket it leaking... Has been, for a while

However, just sorted one on Amazon - so another job for a dry day. A tube of 'blue hylomar' on hand to stick the damn thing in place whilst attempting to fit the alloy top back on ...

New plug seals + securing washer seals included....

Strange Fact!.....

.. this is an 'automatic' spec rad, for the E9x Corolla - and came with two brass connectors for the Trans Cooling pipes [discarded].

It is described as 'compatible' with the T171 Carina II BUT is about 2" narrower  icon_confused.gif ...

The front box/hole in the car is completely filled with this width of rad.... therefore some of the 'factory' rad must have been shrouded in any case....

I'm well chuffed for £18  icon_razz.gif  Eh?

* ... a thought about whether this is becoming an 'OMG-MoneyPit'... O'reilly?? Nah   Nothing I'm attending to is 'terminal' >> ROT sends these to the Great Fragger In The Sky >> as I say in my Strap = "I'm in for the LONG HAUL".

I love my Carina II

I'd hardly call a car that requires an £18 radiator a money pit. Besides, anything that's all preventative maintenance that will save you a load of money in the future.

That's what I tell the misses anyway when she starts moaning about my Corolla.

Collected the car at lunchtime... Rolled up the bill, including Rad fitment + antifreeze, then todays Labour and Materials for the brake pipes/fuel pipes + Bleeding....

£60

... they're a great bunch of lads
