...... Calm & Unruffled progress, across to Carlisle this afternoon  .... Having a few days.

Travelled miles and miles over the tops @59 and had this 'faithful hound' of a couple, in their car 4 lengths behind - I could do a photfit of them!!

Got to the roundabout past Brampton and saw they were turning my way too ... Floored It... Highly illegal... no more gawping  >> not to self* Grow Up!

Balls, and thrice BALLS!

2 blummin nails in my n/s rear. We have 'buy 2 let' flats in my street and the 'odd job men' working leave all sorts in the gutters and strewn across the road

... ATS did 2 plugs in dbbl QuickTime

... But... discovered the brand new exhaust is leaking - failed Y-weld - so I'm getting ANOTHER fitted under Warranty

... and he might not charge for the nail repairs as I'm inconvenienced for a 'revisit'.. YaY

Result mate, nice one. I think Geri has only taken her Carina out of the garage once this month, if we go out together we use the Camry, only if she pops to the shops or something does the Carina get used.

Just sorting out supply of my 'new grille', from Ireland (in Euros)... home of the last large pool of Carina parts, in the Northern Hemisphere

bf78a3078cd5dce22f66728c669628fb.jpg

Mine is cracked on the top and at the ends... has missing verticals... pretty 'hammered' [& NO.. not by me!].

I will keep the knackered one as a 'tester', for a mod I am keen on... but cannot really do without a 'good  one' for the car....

Will report back

*... Exhaust place haven't found another/warranty pipe yet.... ring back tomorrow, he says....

Anyone care to guess how much better the engine breathing might improve IF the two downpipes were 'siamesed'... rather than 50% segmented

Just to say, I follow your posts with interest. I have been pretty lucky with my trio of 24 year old Corollas so far but I suspect it won't be that long before I'm trawling around for bits and pieces. To date Ebay has come up trumps or I have acquired pattern parts (albeit the tailgate struts I acquired seem to provide all the assistance when it's least needed..... i.e. not much at the start then the tailgate attempts to knock you out with an uppercut  Good luck with your future adventures!

I had both ribbed belts replaced when in for my MOT, recently.

The other night - cold and miserable - when I started up they were howling like a banshee.... And my PAS kicked like a Mule

Tomorrow morning my MOT garage will do a retension/check [FOC] and that should sort it all out....

A grand bunch of lads.... :balloon:

I have had no LOW speed (the silent one!) on the heater since I got the car. Today, however, I have lost P2 speed (low murmur).

I'm using P3 (turn up radio)... And the only other is FULL (VTOL sound!)

I'm buying a new resistor pack... Utoob says 5mins to fit!

We Will See

... a webhunt began thismorning....

Extensive Webhunting has produced some sobering facts...

Orig Part 87138-20130 (Carina2/Corona/Camry) around £50.

Some breakers, claiming 'good used' [like..Yeah!], around £20.

....... being a bit of a 'leftfield' guy, I looked further into what was out there.

I FOUND SOMETHING !!

Honda Civic/Rover 200/25... around £7 :balloon:

.... looking at them both, you might agree, not a lot of modding will have the Civic part in place of the Toyota one?

Reshaped

About 15 minutes with the hacksaw + hand file got the new one cut down to the profile of the old one. It is a sort of bakelite/cuts like chocolate with a sharp hacksawblade

Need to drill securing hole and whack it all back in......

Well impressed, I am...
