Gutless Avensis

Hi, I've had my Avensis 1800cc semi-auto for a few months now and I finding it some what lacking in power when I go up hill, it is fine on the flat, accelartaes great but if faced with a hill it is just gutless, even if I lock the box into second it just lacks power to accelerate up hill. I tow a small caravan and when on the flat it pulls great but again give it a hill to climb and I start to cause tail backs, A 1600cc astra just leaves it standing when going up hill.

Is there any mods, swaps, adjustments whatever (apart from getting it chipped) to give it some more torque going up hill, I'm not looking to go fast I just want more torque to help it up the hills ?

The car has been checked by Toyota dealer and is fine, or so they say.
