Just received a new exhaust plus fitting kit, including new rubber mounts and clamp, for the missus' 2006 Sport. Sodding bracket on exhaust came off, otherwise it was still in good nick

Does anyone with experience on this, know if I need to use some kind of exhaust mounting paste on the joint, and if yes, can you recommend a product please?

from Halfords or a motor factor you will be able to get some exhaust assembly paste

you dont have to use it but it will give you a gas tight seal on each connection

Just a heads up for anyone who fancies fitting a replacement rear silencer themselves.

Did mine this morning. Took around 45 minutes to complete. That included jacking up the driver's side for better access to the exhaust. I gave the clamp a good squirt of PlusGas Formula 'A' the previous night, which made removing the rusty bolt a doddle. Highly recommended stuff!

The end where it joins to the middle section, actually slides into the pipe for a couple of inches until it joins the mating surface. Then the clamp squeezes the two ends together. Due to this design, I felt it was unnecessary to use any assembly paste.

I bought my exhaust from eBay. The quality of the product is very high, and the clamp supplied in the fitting kit is actually beefier than the original. Link below:

For 35 quid, that's certainly the least amount I've ever paid for replacing a rear silencer on any car I've owned

OMG, I've just had to buy another one of these, coz my 13 plate on 25k is starting to sound a bit too sporty lol. BTW, the other one was for the wife's car.

I know it's down to the baffles rotting from the inside due to low mileage journeys, but the original Toyota exhausts really are made of cheese
