Hi

I wondered if someone with a auris tourer would be kind enough to measure there boot for me? I know it's 530L but looking for the below

length

width (shortest point)

height

Height - do you want the height to the luggage cover or to the roof?

To the roof, and to the cover if you don't mind

thank you

I see that you have asked elsewhere about Verso dimensions so just fyi in case you get to thinking  whilst an Avensis Tourer theoretically has a slightly smaller boot than an Auris Tourer imo (or at least for my needs) the Avensis is the more usable space (it's wider). & of course you can also tell that you are in a car a class up.

Plenty of them about too so prices are OK if you are buying s/h.

Wouldn't it be quicker to pop into a Toyota dealer with a tape measure .......

That would be my first point of call, but I can't get to a dealer until next weekend, so thought I'd ask some kind owners of the cars on here to help me out if they don't mind

the brochure says length of Auris TS boot is 1395mm. width is given as 1350mm but doesn't say if that is narrowest, widest or what have you.

can anyone confirm by measurment

For the Auris tourer I found the below anyone confirm

length 1395mm or 1115mm
width (widest) 1350mm or 1450mm
width (shortest) 1000mm
height 760 mm (890 deckbord removed)

Very interesting. That makes the Auris Tourer slightly higher capacity than the Avensis, as already know by the volume stated.

I measured my Avensis with the seats up and got the following:

length at base level - 1050mm at the widest point or 1100mm centre line. 890mm from top of seat with cover in place.

width between wheel arches, excluding the spaces behind the wheel arches -  980mm.

height up to the door aperture - 700mm, or 450 with cover in place.

So I could load a box measuring 1050x980x450 with the seats up and cover in place. I normally carry a Dahon Cadenza (26"wheels) with plenty of space to spare.

My next car could well be secondhand Auris Sports Tourer, probably with the 1.6 Valvematic, and if I could stretch funds, a Hybrid version. No diesel for me and not sure about the 1.2T at the moment. For now I am happy with my Avensis Vmatic TR 1.8.

PS: I hate the fact that manufacturers don't state boot measurements and only volume in litres. How do I know if my bike fits is a boot with that measurement alone?!

I was also supried by this, I looked at the Avensis and it did look a much bigger car and boot over the auris, I read the auris was 530L and the avensis 543L

I am chooseing between the Auris and Verso 530L v 440L but the verso is actually 699L to the roof, look at the measurments below between the auris and verso nothing between them really, but the Verso has better height and feel more space inside, verso set up at 5 seater

Auris Tourer
length 1115mm
width (widest) 1350mm
width (shortest) 1000mm
height 760 mm (890 deckbord removed)

Verso
length 880mm - 1100mm ( 3 seats slid forward, kids can still get in back ok and even adults)
width (widest) 1355mm
width (shortest) 1000mm
height 855mm

I leave Avensis storage trays in place, as there is not much gained removing them. The rear seat space huge with plenty of space for rear passengers with long legs. Not sure how the Auris measures up.

The auris is not that great for space in the back, kids ok, adults maybe not, I am 6ft and sat in the back after being in the driver seat and it felt small not much room

I am the same height (6ft), and the leg and head room are good.

So the Avensis has more room in the middle of the car. Still like the Auris.

with the cover in place that is right, with the seats down & cover off the Auris is listed at 1658l & the Avensis at 1609l. I guess that the difference is mostly due to space under the rake of the tailgate (the Avensis is less upright).

The Avensis boot/opening is wider though which for me is more useful.

...

Having been looking at specs recently, it might help if I explained that the standard quoted capacity for estates with the seats UP is the volume BELOW the level of the windows - I suppose the covered-up and out-of-sight space! (The volume that qualifies is largely determined by how high the window line happens to be.) And that particular measurement isn't terribly helpful if you are looking at space for dogs ...

Something that greatly impacts the usability of estate bootspace is the internal shape & slope of the tailgate.

I wasn't sure that there was really enough space in the back of the Auris TS for the greyhound (he's quite big, even for a greyhound). Had to load him in to see, and he made it look a bit marginal. But, having got one, and he's got used to it, he is actually very happy with it (leaping in eagerly), and able to turn round easily.

Something to note is that the current versions of the TS (ie the facelifted ones) come as standard with a spare wheel - BUT NOT the decking! It looks to me as though there's nothing to prevent decking (just 2 boards and a clip-in support 'tray') being fitted to the new ones - apart from whatever the bits cost! The decking is needed if you want a flat load floor when the back seats are folded ... but taking out the decking gives you more height at the maximum length (and particularly under the slope of the tailgate) so much more extra space than you'd expect from a few inches of extra 'headroom'.
