Hi  i have a 2012 2l diesel avensis strata and am a bit let down with the overall build quality and design compared to my last 04.For instance engine covers had to be removed to stop vibation in bonnet, seat belt holders rattle in pillars, chrome around side air vents creates distracting reflection in mirrors and screen is hard to see if lights are on during the day dirt getting inside rear window frames wondering what others thought are.

I believe that Toyota had a dealer fit solution to the reflection of the air vents in the mirrors if owners found it too distracting.

As regards the instrument lighting when the headlights are being used, have you tried adjusting it?

Not had that

seat belt holders rattle in pillars,

Not had that

chrome around side air vents creates distracting reflection in mirrors

had vents replaced foc under warranty -still has chrome on the direction adjuster & that still reflects but it's a lot better than it was

and screen is hard to see if lights are on during the day

which screen, head unit or instrument panel?

dirt getting inside rear window frames

Not had that

The head unit the chrome is around the outside of the vents ironically the lower spec models don't have it.

you can change the setting for the head unit so that it never dims - of course this means that it is rather bright at night ...

& my TSpirit had/has chrome both around the outside of the vent & on the central adjuster for directing the blades. The fix is to replace with the vent trim from a base model.

Scott

You said you:

Is this common knowledge at the dealership, as I agree they are a distraction and if they can be replace under warranty it's something I'll be requesting when I next get the car serviced.

Is it just vents that match the dashboard colour that they fit?

Thanks in advance.

Ask Toyota - not Toyota Owners Club.

btw the reflection isn't in the mirror, it's in the window glass but the reflection is in front of your view of the mirror.
