Hi all, I'm Paul, new to Toyota and new to the Forum. I've had a baptism of fire with my RAV4.2 diesel since purchasing in April, it's cost me an absolute fortune but I'm hoping I'm over the worst of it for the moment. The car had done 83000 when I bought it, and the intention being to have a suitable car that could pull our caravan. I've had the following happen...

New drop links (in the first week)

Cambelt changed (as a precaution as no relevant history)

Clutch and DMF replaced (due to complete failure, off road 3 weeks)

Front right calliper replaced (binding)

All tail lights lost when fuse blew hitching caravan (couldn't find fuses, no handbook!)

Engine Management Light (apparently due to glow plugs)

All together over £2000 work...I'm just unlucky...aren't I?

Car purchased from a non-Toyota franchised dealer

When it's running, it runs really really well, engine strong, good mpg (40mpg), pulls our caravan really well (30mpg), nicely equipped. I do like it, just hope it starts to respect my wallet (and the wife's patience)

I'm sure I will be asking for some advice in the not too distant future!

regards
