Hi There.

New to the forum nad it's great to meet Toyota fans.

I am trying to source a specific set of "18" alloy wheels for my 2009 avensis. I cannot seem to get them anywhere!

They were only available on the 2.2 T-Spirit Model and have attached an image of them.

Of anyone knows where i could source a second hand set I would be extreamly grateful.

Much appreciated.

Hi Charles, welcome to the forum

As you say standard fit on 2.2 TSpirits & tbh not many of those were sold every year so s/h sets are very rare. You can get them from a dealer of course but that would probably be well over £1000.

If your car isn't on 18"s at the moment I wouldn't recommend it - the ride is harder & the 45 profile tyres/wheels are more prone to damage.

Hi heidfirst,.

Really appreciate the feedback, a few people have advised me to stick with the 17s currently on it. And tbh they look really nice. Perhaps it's a step too far but you have got me thinking a little more constructively about the actual practicality versus aesthetics.

If you really want 18"s you can find 3rd party alloys far cheaper (& to me at least many of them look nicer). Also, your tyres are going to be dearer like for like but also with more limited choice.

I have also just had my 3rd tyre with a damaged sidewall. I think that what is happening is that modern low profile tyres often have a "rim protector" which stick out past the rim to protect the wheel from kerbing but which can get caught & torn if the wheel drops into a pot hole (of which there are many these days). This is not good news at £125 or more per tyre (first 2 luckily were due for change anyway, this latest is virtually brand new ).

Bear in mind that you should notify your insurer of the change & they may vary your premium.
