E12 1.4 D4D limp mode/engine management problem

Hey guys, I bought a 2006 1.4 D4D Corolla yesterday, found no problems with it, drove it home (120 miles or so) and it was 100%. Today though I was driving and engine management light popped up, into limp mode, needed to go into 1st gear to edge it to the side of the road. I turned it off back on , the light stayed on but I could drive it normally. I got a Snap-on computer and plugged it in, no faults showed up but the light was still on.

I actually found a post here to say

Put ignition on without starting engine remove EFI fuse under bonnet 15amp? Then replace and light goes out. Saves you having to pay garage to keep resetting it. Kev from Northumberland

I did this light went out and thought I was onto a winner, but 5 minutes later while driving happened again. I'm planning on going to Toyota in the morning in hope they can check it for me (very doubtful with Toyota here) but if anyone has some idea what it might be I'm open to suggestions.

Car has full service history, regularly serviced and 160,000 on the clock.

cheers ian
