Hi Guys,

This isn't an Aygo specific question but how does Toyota warranty work when it comes to buying second hand?

I heard that the balance of the warranty remaining is transferrable, regardless of whether the vehicle is manufacturer approved or not - is this true?

If that is the case, if I am buying a car that is less than 5years old, what is the benefit of buying car that is "manufacturer approved"

Thanks,

Ben

The Toyota new car warranty (5 years/100,000 miles) operates in the same way as any manufacturer's new car warranty. Provided the car has been serviced according to the manufacturer's service intervals and schedules, the warranty should be fully transferable.

There are two aspects to the Toyota Approved programme -

All used Toyota cars are part of the Approved Used Programme, which includes either

1. A 12 months Toyota Comprehensive Warranty, Vehicle Provenance Check, Vehicle Exchange Plan, Toyota Roadside Assistance and the Toyota Approved Quality check, or

2. A 3 month package based on their age and mileage.

With the first package -

The Toyota new car warranty includes 12 months complimentary membership of Toyota Roadside Assistance - Roadside Assistance is included with an Approved Toyota.

Depending on the age of the car one is buying, there may be less than 12 months of the new car warranty remaining.

If the Approved used vehicle proves unsuitable, it may be exchanged for another provided certain conditions are met - usually within a set number of days and within a specified mileage since sale.

It is the dealer that determines whether a used car fits the parameters of the Approved scheme.

Very similar to Approved schemes offered by other manufacturers. At the end of the day, it is your choice.
