Car unused for a week and rear wheel noisy?

Hi all and thanks in anticipation of your help...

My 2005 Celica 140bhp car had been parked on the drive for a week and when I used it this morning there was a noise coming from the offside rear wheel. It is consistent with the rotation of the wheel. I can move the car easily with the handbrake off.

Any ideas/thoughts?

Maybe the brake pad hasn't retracted properly and is rubbing along the drum?

Are they disc brakes on the rear?

If they are I get this quite often on my car. The handbrake is left on, the brake disc gets damp in the rain and corrodes the brake pad into place on the disc surface. It can sound horrendous when first moving but normally clears in a few miles. 

You can help it by pulling the handbrake up slightly while moving. This will bring the pads into contact with the disc and polish off any high spots.

I believe this car has a drum for the handbrake system and a disc for braking?

Tried driving a while with the handbrake with no improvement so I am now suspecting the disc system...piston not fully retracting perhaps?
