Would it work on an N/A - that is my question!

Posted

I think it's a chargecooler that is going into development with a front mounted water rad which should help reduce charge temps and give a cool 20odd bhp increase.

Posted

Right then chaps...

It is as suspected a charge cooler kit, the full details are here....

Chargecooler info.

Sorry to keep you all waiting, its fairly busy here at the mo..... and its too hot, All the more reason to keep your car cool, wow that was seamless....

Let me know what you guys think, any questions just fire away...

U know I would be interested mate... lol

stick me on your list

Posted

extra 25 bhp just by fitting that ?

how ?.. lol.

Posted

can that be fitted to a N/A car? out of interest?

Posted

Jim - it's more efficient and creates a lower/denser charge ..

Also probably less lag too ..

Posted

oooh... so good then ??.. lol

something to go for even if I was going big turbo route ?

Posted

u could fit it titto but not much point on an n/a tbh.

quick question for ya matt. whats the weight like for the cooler + fittings etc. is it that much of an increase over the stock cooler?

Jim .. defo something for the big turbo .. will have bigger gains ..

Posted

something to buy then whenever it's finally finished... :)

Posted

sounds good to me :)

Jimlad you soud like your thinkin along the same lines as me, on everything lol.

U have a kitted rev1, modded loads, and now ur going big turbo route lol.

What turbo are you going for m8 out of curiosity and what intercooler?, plus what ya doin for fuel and internalls?, im not being nosey its just I`m doin the same and need any advice i can get as im mechanically retarded. :)

Posted

oh and are u uprating ur clutch to deal with the extra power?, and what sorta power output you hopin to get using what boost??

oh and whilst im asking stuff, where are you going to get it all set up? lol

Sorry but i really need to find stuff out.

Just to clarify.... the chargecooler kit is designed specifically for the turbo and won't fit an N/A... sorry guys.

The extra BHP is gained firstly because the charge temps will be lower and secondly because of the direction of the air flow....Try to picture this, a box sat between the turbo and the inlet manifold, the air comes out of the turbo, through the box (or chargecooler if you like) and straight in to the inlet.... none of this snaking through the piping in and out of the IC. This should also mean quicker spool up, so all round benifits.

I expect the replacement kit to be of a simular weight, however there will be coolent running through it so there will be a slight increase in overall weight, but nothing that will slow you down greatly.

Its good to hear theres some interest.... when we have some test results back and confirmation on pricing etc i'll let you guys know.

Matt.

Sounds  , just need a turbo now :ffs:

vielside_mr2....

I have already got an uprated clutch in. Got it fitted last week.

I myslef are quite mechanically retarded.. lol

I'm most probably going for the stage3 turbo from fensport.

Along with Metal HG

Larger Injectors

Water Injection

Forged Pistons

ARP Bolts/Studs

That should cover it nicely.

Should hopefully get 360bhp +

jimlads going for it!

quicker spoolup aswell, nice!

and not too much increase in weight then, bonus!!!

i'm defo interested in this one as a future upgrade m8

I'd be interested too -

What would be the approximate fitting cost?

How does this compare to similarly priced intercooler solutions?

As I understand it from your descriptions, this would bypass the current intercooler completely or am I missing the point? Usually IC and CC are used in series?
