Aygo As His First Car

Recommended Posts

Hello Aygos.

I am normally on the Avensis team as that is what i drive, however my 17 year old son bless him has just started taking his driving lessons with a driving school, and we are thinking what to get as a learner vehicle but also his first vehicle. Just to add my son works for our local Toyota dealership completing his apprenticeship and knows a lot about Toyotas, and we have only ever been Toyota fans.

The reason for my posting, are the Aygo's any good? And what reg and specs are best to go for? Finally are there any known issues?

Any sort of help or advice would be most appreciated guys and girls.

Thank you

I have an Aygo mk1 model and its a lovely little car to drive, very nippy on the country roads. The mk2 version they have improved it a lot and it drives like a bigger car.

Clutches on pre-2009 Aygos were an issue - replaced with the larger clutch from the Yaris.

Some cars are prone to water leaks - high level rear brake light, rear lights, etc. Plenty of info on here as to how to cure leaks. Later cars seem to have this largely sorted (2011/12 on?).

Same engine as Yaris 1.0 litre.

I swopped my Auris for a new Aygo in August - as we didn't need a car as large. Really pleased with it. Fun to drive. Enough go for what we want (live in Birmingham so mainly city driving). Our other car does us for going on holiday, etc.

Thanks guys n girls...

Im on the hunt...looking at the sport versions, so cute, only they're a little old 06 07's.

My budgets around 2 to 2.5k. I doubt i'd get away with any less!!!

I drove a 2016 model as a courtesy car a few weeks back and took an 2006 model for a test drive yesterday...both years apart...but equally the most fun ive had behind a wheel in !Removed! years! I apologise for my excitement.
