Hi all,

Ive just registered on the forum, im thinking about buying a celica GT, about an M reg (1995). Is there much difference between the imports and UK cars? Which is better & are there any things I should look out for when viewing either?

Any help would be great! :)

Ouuu, 1 more Q, Ive heard the GT is around 173bhp as standard, what mods are required to get one up to around 200bhp, and roughly how much would this cost??

Sorry about all the Q's, youve prob answered them all a zillion times before, but im a bit cluesless at the mo when it comes to celica's.

Thanx again! :D

Ello. Import vs UK, not a lot of difference, more likely to get climate control on an import and more likely to get some mods on the car. Other than that the mileage is likely to be lower on an imported car (mine came with just over 30k).

Getting to 200bhp isn't easy without spending a fair amount of money. Exhaust, decat, induction, new ignition components, possibly a superchip might get you to around 190'ish. People have supercharged them but thats expensive! I had mine dynoed at 156bhp at the wheels, so with transmission loss thats somewhere between 180-190 at the flywheel (which is where the standard figures are quoted from). There are products like the Top Fuel power deck spacer available which could take you over 200 but I don't know of anyone with one fitted? If you really want over 200 then get a GT4!!

Thankyou all for the luvly welcome :D

I think Ive decided im gona start looking for one! I cant get insured on the gt4 unfortunately :( otherwise id have one! Tho tbh il be more then happy with a gt i think, not too fused about gettin to 200bhp, i think all I would do would be decat & induction kit :)

Ive just sold my old car, a pug 306 dturbo, about 100bhp it was.

Stupid question this is I know but Ive never been in a celica, how much power difference will I feel between the pug & a GT? Ie off the mark and up top end!?

Thanks again for your kind welcomes

dunno if the gen 6 import has a speed limiter , my UK one hasn't --0-60 in around 8 seconds , change to second gear if you like , top end around 125 - 130 mark, these cars like to be flogged to get any returns , dont expect great accelleration till around 4000 rpm.then they flyyyyyyyyyyyyy . ,

1995 gen 6 20 gt.st202 3gse

decat - lowered 35 mm-17 " boolers .sony head unit ,italian aluminum gear knob.

It has mate, acceleration isn't affected but if it's a JDM import it is chip restricted to 110mph max
