I am interesting in buying a new Toyota Auris hybrid.

But I would prefer to wait if a new model is supposed to arrive during year 2017.

Does anyone know about any plans for new models ?

Thank you

The Auris had its mid-life facelift in the summer of 2015.

Given that it is a re-work of the first generation (retaining the first generation's Type Approval), the replacement is probably due in 2018, rather than next year.

Can I add that from 1st April 2017, all cars registered from that date will pay £140 a year from the second year, regardless of the initial payment.

This is a better explained detail than the info I have seen elsewhere. Also cars costing over £40,000 will be charged £310 for 5 years after the first year!

So don't wait to buy your new car, if it going to cost more in VED.

Unless the new Chancellor makes further changes in next month's Autumn Statement, one could take delivery of a 17 plate between 1st and 30th March 2017, and still take advantage of the current VED rate.

Of course it will need careful coordination, especially if a car needs to be ordered, as I think there may be a few people wanting to take advantage of this apparent mismatch between the old and new VED systems.
