Should I ourchase 2008 Avensis 2.2 D4D/

Have read a lot on here about Head Gasket problems; local garage has 2008 plate 2.2 D4D in good nick 72,000 miles; worried that I could buy it and head gasket would blow 3 months later; Same thing happened on landrover discovery 10 years ago...

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE???!!!

The ad 2.2 engine pre February 2010 has something like a 5 percent chance of having the problem. If the engine hasn't been swapped and you like the odds, go for it.

Toyota dealer? You can take out a Toyota Extended Warranty (commits you to having it serviced by a Toyota dealer to keep it valid) up until 11 years/100k iirc. Assuming that it has a full service history.

It's pre February 2009 on an Avensis but varies according to vehicle model i.e. it is different for RAV4.
