Hi

I bought a 4-wire universal type lambda sensor for my (now sold) GT4. The sensor was was not required - a different sensor was needed. It was opened by the mechanic but never fitted or used. I have confirmation from the supplier that it will fit MR2s.

I'm looking for £65 for it

Email me for further information

Thanks

General question:

Is it worth getting a new one anyway? or is it best to only if you have a problem with it?

You don't need a new one unless you have a problem with the existing one, which is usually exposed by general uneaveness of the engine and emission problems etc.

It was recommended to me to change it every 40K miles or so as it can play havoc with your fuel economy as it gets dirty. Many people clean them but you risk damaging them ... a faulty O2 sensor will also show up as an error code on the diagnostics.

Some info here....

If you monitor fuel economy i.e. by checking that you are getting roughly the same out of each tank of petrol, there will be no need to replace it blindly. Bit too expensive to replace without good reason!

Had to get mine replaced for MoT test and Got it from http://www.justlambda.co.uk . They too say that they should be replaced at regular intervals, but I suppose if I were being cynical then I'd think they might be trying to make money. Mine cost about £57 + delivery so just over the £60 mark and that was the more expensive 4 wire one.
