extended warrantee...

I have just had a quote from a Toyota main dealer for a 2 year extension on my 2012 Avensis [which has I year warrantee left] ,for £566.  which would take effect when the original warrantee runs out. so I would have cover until Nov 2019.   It does say it includes 2 yrs AA cover ,so I would not have to pay 2 x £68. ...My car was purchased new .and done just 16000 miles and just had its 4th service ,,,,, Whats the general opinion on the value to me and the mileage I cover ,,the only thing I fear is trouble with the Electronic Handbrake ....THANKS

It's £72 this year by DD for Roadside Assistance, or £76 for a single payment by card. So your extended warranty is going to cost a little over £200 per annum.

I hope that you have a petrol as 4,000 miles p.a. for a diesel probably isn't good for it unless they are long runs. The 1.8 seems very reliable.

The cost of the EPB actuator replacement is over £1000 so it's up to you whether it is worth £200 p.a. for peace of mind. I took it out but my engine has a DPF, a turbo etc. etc. which are also very expensive should they fail -  other than through fair wear & tear I am covered (& whilst I am not doing high mileage I am doing a lot more than you).

I have taken out the Toyota extended warranty and made a claim for a seized caliper and one other item but cant remember what , both done without fuss at the dealers.

One can now buy an extended warranty up to the vehicle reaching 12 years of age or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
