T sport 3rd gear crunch...

Hi guys, my t sport has started with an annoying little crunch every so often when changing up into 3rd gear....I've changed the gearbox oil to redline oil but still does it...is this the synchro fault that plagues the t sport or clutch....it just seems to have cone out of no where.....if it's synchro is it costly ???? Anybody else has or had this and wot did u do about it....thanx for any info as love my t sport but this is annoying me....

Does sound like a syncro unfortunately. Do you know if the clutch is original and how many miles, as a failing clutch pressure plate that isn't fully disengaging the gearbox from the flywheel would cause increased stress and wear on the syncros as you shift. Could also be worn bushes on the gear linkage not lining up the forks properly. If you do get the gearbox repaired or replacement gearbox ensure the clutch is replaced also. I would double check with a gearbox specialised too.

Yep sounds like synchro.. don't know if it's original clutch, taking it to garage next week to see wot they say.....

Another one for synchro I reckon. I'm sure that's the cheaper option too. Hope all goes well buddy.

Don't think they can repair just the synchros as its cheaper to get recon box.....but gonna have to put a new clutch in there 2, as would be daft not to.....easily gonna be £500....!!!!!

Contact Sam Nadeem on Facebook and he can do a brand new clutch and gearbox with longer sixth gear for not a lot of money.  Syncrho into third is a major weak spot of these cars.
