Picked up Yaris Excel HSD today to Replace our Yaris Icon HSD. Reading manual I'm not sure how auto headlights work, if auto is selected do lights come on in darkness and dip if vehicle is approaching and go back to main beam when it's passed? 

In case anyone is interested in delivery times it took six weeks and two day from order to delivery exactly as the dealer predicted.

Our old car averaged 57.28 mpg over the time we owned it. Worst tankful was 41.81mpg and best 71.12mpg using full tank to full tank calcs.

As far as I'm aware there are two auto functions you may have for the headlights - 1). Auto headlights, and 2). Automatic high beam.

With automatic high beam, with the auto headlights set to 'Auto', to activate the auto high beam push the stalk away from you. There should be a push button on the dash for the auto high beam - depress this.

A front sensor should dip the main beam when it detects street lighting, an oncoming vehicle, etc.
