Dab in 2010 avensis

Hi. im new to this but ive just bought a 2010 avensis tourer and on the nav its got an option for dab. I press it and it says I havent got it. how do you go about getting it and how much does it cost? Thanks for any help.

Hi Oliver, welcome to the forum 

There is/was 2 official Toyota ways of adding DAB. The first was a fairly expensive (£3-400) module that plugs into the back of the head unit & gave full integration (display, steering wheel controls etc.).

The cheaper (~£150) 2nd version came later but didn't have the full (head unit display & steering wheel control)  integration iirc.

You might want to check on how good a DAB signal there is where you will use it though - it still seems quite poorly distributed.

Thank you for your reply. seems alot of money and living in west wales I doubt the signal makes it worth it. for the time being I think ill stick to the old fashioned fm and mw.

Well, at least you have the option. As the only country in Europe Norway are shutting down the FM network in 2017  .   Half the cars are without DAB and even every fourth new car sold is without. God knows what they are thinking about..
