key fob battery

Does any one know whether an annual Mr T service includes a replacement keyfob Battery....???

It was always replaced for me when using a very small genuine Toy service garage in Nth London.....a wonderful first- named-service place that closed down as the land is more valuable as flats.

My Gen 3 had a simple service in July and now I have a 'Low key Battery' warning.......this has nothing to do with the cost of a 1632 button, but more the principle, as my IQ was service there with costs for 'consummables', only to find no water in the washers when I really needed them

It's not mentioned in the service schedules, but I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Battery should be replaced every two years, whether that's during a service or down to the owner I don't know. It's good to see that the car gives you a warning before it goes dead, so you can change it.

My PIP showed that message for the spare key for a while.  After a few uses, the PIP decided the battery was OK and stopped showing the message.

I also noticed with the Yaris that if I used the spare key after it hadn't been used for months, it took a while for the remote lock/unlock to start working (like it had a flat battery) but after the fob had 'warmed up' it was fine.

Thanks folks...

Well maybe my key Battery is getting on for 4 years old, and has never been changed by the T team.....perhaps I have just been spoilt by good old Twin Spark motors, who changed the Battery during  my annual IQ service, although I remember them saying that the cost is part of the the menu system.

The amazing service that they provided was the reason for the Prius purchase......and then they go belly-up
