Picked up my business edition plus today and very pleased so far ,  the  reverse beep was already set to just one beep although i didn't ask for it when ordered,

I got two booklets for satnav and owners info but they were nowhere near as informative as the online version.. According to the online version there are numerous options to customise some settings inc beep volume for parking sensors, however in settings there were only two things to alter such as delay for interior light going out.

are the other options not available on  UK/EU versions or have I missed something?

Have you looked at p672 on the main online manual?

For a while now, Toyota have supplied condensed owners, sat nav and multimedia manuals with new vehciles, and the full manuals are available online.

Yes, i followed the instructions and there were only two options to customise, both to do with lighting

The three columns on the right show who can change them and where to do it:

Have you tried using the right hand set of steering wheel buttons to send settings on the Multi-Function Display next to the speedometer?  Using the left/right buttons, go to the rightmost icon on the display (a cog) and go down to lowest two options, they allow you to set various choices - see P 154 onwards.

I would have liked a few more of the Dealer Only settings to be under my control, such as switching off the auto wipers and reversing beep.

Carista is your friend. All you need to access the dealer settings is a bluetooth OBD adapter (>£5 on Ebay) and the Carista android app. With the app you pay a £10 subscription for one month's use, which is plenty of time to play with and alter the settings and is cheaper than paying the dealer's hourly rate. Some dealers will change some of the settings for free at service time if you ask them nicely.

My dealer usually does things like that for free for me, even when not having a service - but then, I've spent rather a lot of money there over the last 14 years (4 Prius, a Yaris, and all servicing and most tyres for them, plus my Ex's Yaris (that was once mine! - I still take it here for her!) - a big tin of Quality Street at Christmas possibly smooths the way too

I take it the Carista s/w if fine (compatibility wise) with the Gen ?

I have a BT OBD reader, but it mucked up some settings on my Gen 3 (like turning the dreaded reversing beep back on!) until someone told me the auto setting for type of communication could clash with some cars, and gave me the manual settings.I use Torque for a one off payment (limited use free) and quite liked the dials I could display like HV flow and RPM.

I haven't plucked up the courage to use is with my Gen 4 yet, and a quick feel under the dash didn't reveal the location of the port either.

I

I have looked at that and found settings for the HUd etc but many of the settings in the online manual don't appear to be there, I'll have another exploration later..  It seems the reverse beep was not turned off at the dealer but arrived from Japan already set to one beep.   The roadside speed sign recognition seems very poor and giving me incorrect information several times yesterday such as showing 60 when in  a 40 area, and one time 50 in a 30 area and I'm disappointed with that, the satnav however shows the correct limit

The settings that only the dealer can change are not seen in the car's displays.  They appear on the Dealer's terminal when it is connected to the car's OBD port.

Are there settings that have blobs in the user changeable columns that you can't see?

The Carista is fine, just plug and play. The Gen4 OBD is in roughly the same place as the Gen 3, but oriented slightly different. It's at the bottom of the dash just to the left of the bonnet pull, it's directed down towards the floor and orientated 90 degrees to the dash. You can feel it with your fingers to the left of the bonnet pull, moving your hand forward slightly.

I wouldn't put much faith in the roadsign assist, it's more of a gimmick TBH. It only shows whatever the last sign it read (and only speed signs) and it doesn't always read it properly. The Nav is pretty reliable except on newly changed limits, as it's not always up to date.
