storage device not recognised

My wifes 61 yaris t spirit has a problem reading USB, it says on tom tom sat nav screen storage device not recognised. it has always worked pretty well until now

Ive tried other usb sticks and same problem

Ive plugged phone in and it charges

When switching modes it does not show usb or aux on the stereo as it used to, just shows cd or fm

Ive unplugged aux/usb switch and blew out

A note that maybe relevent, Plugged the original device into pc and it shows 4 gb used and gb of free space but when opened up it shows no files, I checked the other usb devices tried and they show files

Any help appreciatd
