Steering wheel controls not wokring

Hi there all. Brand new here and thought I'd ask for some advice.

I've just bought a Avensis T3-S 1.8 semi-auto. The previous owner took out the radio and replaced it with a new one. The radio works fine (although it flashes a bit too much for my liking) however the steering wheel controls don't function any more.

I'd like to fix this if possible, but I have no idea where to start. Does anyone have any advice on how I could approach this?

I'm not an expert but some (all?) stereos have an adapter harness to enable the steering wheel controls, maybe one is available your particular stereo?  Alternatively fit a second hand original stereo, they're not coded (except I believe the sat nav ones might be, from reading a recent thread).
