Yaris Tuning

Hi this is my first post here, just a few questions for some knowledgeable person to help me with :)

I have a 1.0 litre Yaris and as great as it is to drive I would love a little more bhp than it delivers, i know that I won't get huge amounts of power increase without spending alot of cash but is there anything that I can do to my car to give it a boost?

I've read something about removing the catalytic converter, is this beneficial and how difficult is it?

Perhaps an induction kit?

Any help would be great, thanks

:D

This one has been posted before....

Check post:

An induction kit and good exhaust will help with the engine become more repsonsive as it can breath easier and givea minimal increase in power, with a 1l engine there really isn't that much you can do to increase power though....

A de-cat pipe will help air flow through the exhaust but your car will fail the emissions test at MOT time so you would need to keep the Cat Pipe and swap it over for the MOT process...

Depends what your budget is :)

Two real options....

a) Engine swap...

B) Buy a better car...

You could always sell it and get a very good MR2 and insure it with the change :D :D :D

I'll bear the MR2 option in mind although what i'm really after is a TS yaris, will have to wait 'til I get a decent job I suppose

Thanks again

bit pricey on the old insurance for an 18 year old though!

Is a K&N replacement air filter gonna do anything for me? I just looked at the current air filter and its pretty filthy, I don't really want to add an induction kit as its too noisey and its not just me who drives the car

Hi mate technically a K&N panel filter would increase bhp but it proberly woulnt be noticeable as i fitted one to my ts and didnt get any real increase but if you phone tdi on 02085910442 they should be able to give you some better advice,They even do a turbocharger for your car which should be nice,Go on do it, you know you want to.

cheers man, does the k&n filter give it a better sound? there's a lad at my college who's just made a real work of art out of a 206, although he is literally a millionaire and he's had a proper induction kit + exhaust, sounds really good, not like nova/R5 idiots! bit besides the point there but never mind! lol

Yeah i've seen that turbo kit, i'm sure I read it takes it from 60bhp up to 180? that's mental! would never keep it on the road through the front wheels :D bit pricey too lol

Didnt really notice any more noise but its nice to have a car that isnt standard but to be honest id go for the induction kit,it makes it sound like a monster when you boot it but isnt to obtrusive if you drive slow.

Its www.fensport.co.uk there sound chaps to as they made my car the first in the country to have a blitz induction kit its pricey at £120 though but still think its worth it for the quality.
