toyota avensis 2.21 d4d fuel filter light, battery light, no dials working, loss of power

have a 2007 Toyota avensis. Fuel filter light and Battery light came on at the same time this morning.

When returning to the car it wouldn't start so had to jump start it. Now have the warning lights still on, all dials on the dashboard are intermittently working, loss of power possibly in safe mode but keeps occasionally coming out of this mode, Lights and dashboard dials keep intermittently returning and going off.

Really need some advice asap as to what is going on with the car as really struggling to get home and need for work again on Sunday.

Any help really appreciated.

My first approach would be to examine the alternator. Also check the Battery voltage. I suspect the alternator had failed and as a result the Battery discharged. If you charge the Battery does that fault abate? With the engine running you should be seeing at least 14v at the battery.

Thank you Duggerz. Looking like an alternator issue and need to replace it. Any ideas on where to get one for a half decent price?

Just get it refurbished. It's cheap and you know ithat will definitely fit your car again.
