Vibration at 2000rpm - again and again

Very possibly Frostyballs - everything i have tried so far has failed (-short of a tarpaulin over it), and this sounds a very logically justifiied suggestion, so i'll give it a go......thank you.

The usual post-wash / hosepipe check hasn't shown anything up this time, but it hasn't rained heavily since it was last put back together - and thats is what usually seems to be the acid test.

It's parked on an unfavourable gradient at the moment for rainwater run-off. Fingers crossed it will rain sufficiently in the next couple of days to be a thorough test - then i will go at it with this Tolley's stuff.

If it still leaks after that (-for the sake of my sanity) i think i will offer it up to anyone on here-for free-who may want it - just to take the damn thing away.

If not, it will likely become the modern-day version of Father Ted's Rover 213.......

Hope this works for you ,I had the same in 2018,and with the horrible whiff!!!

I think a new clutch is something I'll have to consider as well...

( 2,000rpm vibration )

I've certainly not regretted it. I love driving the car. Much more relaxing after the clutch change though it was a pain in the wallet! Let us know how you get on.

I've bought a 2011 IQ2 with 41k, this vibration comes at 2k revs but it does seem to settle a bit as the car warms up. Also it only really happens in gear 1, 2 and a bit in 3. I will probably just end up living with it as I bought to save money not spend it.

I can only say that my vibration problem was liveable with, but now that it has gone, the car is so much nicer to drive.

Well...

About £1k later, but well worth it, I have a new clutch.

( And new brake fluid and gearbox oil. )

Yes, it's so much better.

Our daughter had a 1.0L Aygo. In comparison it's much more noisy and unrefined. She still loves it.

The IQ with the same engine is so much quieter.

There is still a tiny 2,000rpm sensation BUT... I think that is how the engine is.

Seems like the only real cure to the 2,000rpm issue is a new clutch.

Happy.

I don't suppose you got to have a look at the old clutch? I'm just curious what sort of state it gets to to make the vibration so much more noticeable!

As I mentioned previously, my old clutch looked fine but I had no way to check the state of the springs other than they looked ok.

Broken clutch springs most likely culprit

I didn't...

I was told it looked a bit manky but I suspect the issue was something small ...

Just 47,000 miles.  😞

But I don't know exactly - sorry.

Hi all,

I know this is an old thread however, I too have recently purchased a 2009 1L IQ and guess what? It has the 2000rpm Vibration noise too.

I have the car with 6 months warranty so I will most probably too have the clutch changed. Does anyone recommend any specific brand of clutch which would be more

reliable and long lasting than the standard toyota one? also would it be best to take it to a Toyota specialist or any clutch repair garage will do? I know its a pain to change the clutch on these as I've seen

someone do it on youtube.

Thanks for any help :)

Hi kougan.

had mine done at our Toyota Garage in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. I suggest that you get a quote from a Toyota garage and then, if you haggle a bit, they might, as they did with mine, reduce it a bit.  It has certainly been well worthwhile as the car is so much nicer to drive.

Chris.

Beware, your warranty will not be worth the paper it is written on. All these 6 month warranties that are not dealer warranty on a new car are pretty much scams. I have had 3, all the same, uncontactable, with terrible reviews online and basically refuse to communicate or pay out on anything. I have a 6 month warranty on my IQ ( 2011 ) and have a faulty horn - I tried to utilise the warranty given by Ford ( car was a part exchange at a dealership ) and same problem, uncontactble. I ended up getting ford involved and they got me through to someone who sounded like he was in India. I've not bothered as they say "pay first then send them the receipt" but they won't cover it.

If you get your car serviced by Toyota, they give you a warranty for the year limited by the car being less than 10 years old and under 100,000 miles. My 63 plate IQ just scrapes in on the years and has under 47,000 on the clock.

My warranty is definitely legit, I contacted them after I purchased the vehicle to make sure it was all pukka, basically you take your car to a reputable repair garage (in my case i'm taking it to Mr.Clutch they quoted me £653.00) then the garage contacts the warranty company to tell them the diagnosis and the cost and then the warranty company approves it with the garage then they do the job and get paid once its completed. They are called Warranty Solutions Group, UK company.

I looked at Mr.Clutch, but their online reviews did not inspire me. Just saying...

Hope it all gets sorted soon to YOUR satisfaction!

Which other garages would you suggest?

I used the Toyota dealer, Vantage, in Knaresborough. They have serviced our cars and are really good and nice to deal with. As I said, they offered a discount and I feel that in the event of a problem, I can go back and get it sorted. They do, of course, know the vehicle!

Was the work carried out under Toyota warranty?

No... I just paid myself. ( I didn't have any warranty. )

Yes, I also paid for the work myself, ouch but worth it.

Can I ask how much it cost for Toyota to do the work?

Thanks

I think the price we agreed on was £720 including VAT.
