Take out the dash ..

Unclip the gear stick gator and then unclip the small surround ..

Take out the ashtray and remover the two screws ..

Undo the screw above your left knee (in the drivers seat) ..

Then pull the whole surround out ..

Unclip your hazards and ciggy lighter

There sould then be two brackets and 4 bolts and the whole thing comes out ..

Oh and when putting it all back .. your indicators will not work unless you re-plug your hazard button back in ..

you'll need to add the brackets to the sides of your headunit .. the Toyota bit is a blanking plate (like the front of PC's) cause you haven't got the optional CD player ..

If you want to spend some money you can always invest in a little cubby to keep your sunnies/CDs in. It replaces that horrible bulgy thing that blanks off the other DIN hole. Part number 55521-16030 at £10.72 + VAT from Mr T.

yes mate any single din will do.

I take it you have the passive audio system in which case you'll need autoleads adaptor PC9-406.

I dunno bout other headunits but my Sony screwed right into the metal brackets that were secured on the toyota headunit.

You'll need an "Autoleads" PC9-406 adapter.

You'll have 2 amplifiers behind the passenger side rear quarter panel which power your Speakers and subs. This adapter enables you to utalise the factory amps with your new head unit. :)

Here's what I found from a bit of Google'ing:

PC9-406 for active system between Apr 1990 - January 1994

PC9-411 for active system between Jan 1994 - April 2000

And what I knew beforehand:

PC2-17-4 for non-active system.
