Hi all. New member here!.

Unfortunately I've misplaced the key to my 2005 Corolla  and wanted to know how difficult it is to have a new/replacement key made? Am I right to assume the key would be chipped? Am I right in assuming the dealer would be expensive?

Would it be more cost effective/cheaper to buy a second hand lock set with keys? Is it a major issue installing and/or programming a new set to the car?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ali

A Toyota dealer would probably charge £150-200 for a new key and programming - which is about average amongst manufacturer dealer networks. Part of the reason for the cost is to deter anyone from getting a key to the vehicle.

Could try an auto locksmith.

Thanks, I suppose that isn't too bad.

That's a shame buddy. Not sure for corolla's but when I had my impreza quite a few people called out Timpsons (mobile lock Smiths). They solived alot of problems and we're cheaper than dealers. That £150- £200 does seem about right for them!

Good luck anyway 👍👍
