Change interior bulb

As a qualified clumsy oaf, can anyone tell me how to remove the plastic dome covering the interior bulb on a Mk1 Yaris please?

Take a small screwdriver. Go to one of the shorter ends of the  cover. Gently insert blade into gap between cover and base. Gently twist or pull down.

So I got the cover off but what kind of bulb is that, certainly not what I expected.

 a pic would have helped but I suspect that it will be a festoon bulb?

Agreed, usually festoon. Check the overall length and wattage when buying a new one.
