Corolla 1.4 D.4D MMT - slight jerk on reverse - Oil change? New Software?

Hello all,

I bought a 2005 Corolla 1.4 D4D MMT estate last year. Only today, reading about the car have I understood it's not a true automatic , but a standard gearbox with an electonically controlled clutch.

Ever since I've had it, putting it into reverse , it does not immediatley crawl backwards. Putting a little pressure on the accelerator pedal it initally jerks backs before smoothing out.
(Also on braking, it isn't wery smooth but I've read this is common on MMT engines).

I have a few questions:

1) Does the MMT have and require an "Automatic gearbox " type filter and automatic transmission oil changout ?

2) Could this be the problem for the reverse jerk? i.e., a gearbox oil change?
3) Will this clutch eventually burn out? Could this be the current problem?
4) Could the jerk be related to the car needing a software upgrade?

5) Is this little jerk back on reverse a known issue?

Thanks very much for any help you can give me.
(I've had to write j-e-r-k that way for internet bad language control reasons)
