Yaris 2005 Headlight Replacement Questions

My wife's 2005 Yaris Colour Collection has developed a dull N/S headlight. I've polished the outside of both to remove the glaze and scratches but the N/S headlight has the dullness on the inside as well. O/S is fine.

I've read several posts on how to remove the headlight and I am prepared to have a go myself. Headlights are around £45 on Amazon or eBay (non OEM) but I did read another post that said you should be able to remove the clips on the top and the upper bolts in the wheel arch to pull the top of the bumper forward without removing it completely to get at the headlight bolts. Has anyone tried this ?

Also how do i know what type of headlight I have as there appear to a couple of types. Mine has headlight adjustment by a dial on the dashboard being a 1.3 colour collection. Does anyone know what it should be if that's possible please ? I see some are Valeo and specify "no motor" and I assumed all 1999-2005 Yaris models had the same headlights.

FYI. Toyota quoted £225 to supply and fit headlight.... not sure what my local garage will charge but they have just told me "we don't fit customer supplied parts" which was a bit of a surprise as I would have thought they would fit but not warranty the work. I've had this done elsewhere. They are a  good garage but that to me is a bit elitist. Not sure if they would supply and fit a non OEM part but I'm not paying £110 for a Toyota piece of plastic thats essentially the same as the third party one thats more than half the price

With the first generation Yaris, they were initially imported from Japan until the French plant came onstream in 2001. So I would imagine that the Valeo headlights will probably be for the French built versions.

If your Yaris has Valeo headlights, they, of course, won't be a 'Toyota piece of plastic'.

Good point frosty.....

To be fair I should have added "an expensive piece of Toyota plastic" mind you most components from any manufacturer are expensive by any standards. Nothing wrong with Toyota plastic as such

Non OEM ones are less than half price and having had one in my hands they are as good as the OEM part. Just need to figure out best way to fit it
