Frankie asked about programming because if it hasn't been done, that injector will either inject was too much or too little fuel. Your car will also run rough as a bear's ****, unmistakably so.if you took it to a diesel specialist it's almost certain to have been done though. There's a code on each injector stamped at manufacture that allows you to tell the ecu how to correct for the individual characteristics of that injector.

Ask who ever fitted the reconditioned injector.I assume it's not yours that was taking out and reconditioned? See if that injector was programmed with the code on it.

Will do Frank. Definitely wasn't mine that was reconditioned as on receipt of new injector I'd to send my old one back

The injector came with a code but the ecu wouldn't accept it. He did say though that he encountered that issue before with the computer and it didn't cause the car to smoke. He reckons prob another injector but he's going to clean the fuel regulator this afternoon.

I recall discussion about this in another thread, and it's because the rev of the injector is too late for the rev of the ecu, solutions are earlier injector or flash the ecu.

Might be best either as Duggerz says older injector.or go to Toyota and get the ecu updated. I guess the code that's on the injector has to be used or can he use the code from his old injector? (If you can source it that is)

I was out with the mechanic today. He removed fuel pressure regulator and cleaned it no good. I rang the diesel specialist that I got the injector from and he told me among other things to check egr physically as the problem is mechanical. I came home stripped it out straight forward enough job actually and gave it a good cleaning. No difference. I think now lads it's time for a specialist. I'm going to end up doing the other 3 injectors I just know it. I've done all I can with it here locally anyway. Problem is diesel specialist is 80 miles away and wants it for two days..sigh. Thanks again for the feed back lads and I'll keep the thread updated

Have you taking the electronic part off the egr to see if that's working too?

I sure did. Valve was mucky but not overly so I would've thought. I do know if actuator is malfunctioning she'd through eml

Yeah possibly.but would it be opening too much and not throwing up eml?

Do you know anyone that has a Toyota techstream diag tool? You can get them really cheap online and do your own checks.

Can somebody please post a link. I don't understand how a cable attached to my lap top/ tablet can run a full diagnostic. Do I need to buy a disc as well to load into the computer?

Lads I sincerely hope this is my last post on this thread. The car is finally sorted. The car was going terrible yesterday worse than ever since I cleaned out the egr valve so I took it off again last night and went over it again. Hey presto the car started perfect this morning plenty of power with little or no smoke. I'm delighted. Thanks everyone for taking the time to try help me out. I hope to return the favour. Please though if somebody could post a link for that cable I'd appreciate it.
