Hi guys I've recently bought a Corolla T Sport 2002 and I just wanted to ask a few question.

I wanted to change the headlights to HID but I've been reading that due to my headlight being standard I might not be able to change it?

I spoke to a mechanic and apprently they can do it but they dont know which kit is needed.

Is there any way for me to do this? If so what kind of kit or part do I need to buy?

Those aftermarket HID's are illegal, save your money for other mods.

I had aftermarket HID's on my car for 8 months. It was great, lit the motorways and London roads so well.

They are made for projector headlight casings. I had them and worked really well, but after 8 months they blew my fuse again and again because I didn't have a relay.

I have now switched to Cree LED lights from eBay and they work just as well. I would suggest 5000k, because I currently have 6000k and they aren't as bright as they could be but have a blue tint to it, which I wanted.

They won't be as bright as HID, but they last a lot longer and do give a good light output than standard halogens.

Hope this helps, All the best.

Do you have a link just so I have an idea on what to get? Will it work on a standard headlight because I spoke to a friend this morning and he told me that I have an h4 therefore if I wanted HID I need to buy an h4 hid bulb.

HID H4 Kit: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151759736961

Cree H4 LED Lights: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142154586834

I would go for the Cree LED, less problems and so much easier to fit. It has a little less light distribution then HID, but last so much longer.

I do prefer the HID because they are a bit brighter and distribute light further, but it needs to be installed properly and they are very sensitive lights. I have blown 3 kits in one year.

Also with both lights you may get a lot of people horning at you from the other direction because the Corolla's have reflective casing so keep that in mind, but don't let that bother you.

Let me know how it goes? Good luck.

You should be aware that both of these are probably strictly speaking illegal for on road use in your car.

Yep they are, specially for reflective casings, but I've had MOT tests passed and been stopped by London police many times and they checked my lights and never said a thing. I've had the LED's on over a year and so far so good. You are right though, but it's a small risk worth taking for better light distribution for me.
