 That sounds like a plan.

I've no idea how you tell the country of build. In the past their used to be a small sticker on the windscreen I think. Our Corolla has one, made in Turkey. Its been totally reliable apart from failing an MOT last year for a failed bulb. They just don't make 'em like they used to.

Yuasa are a top brand. As long as the Battery is physically correct and has the correct sized terminals then you shouldn't go far wrong. Some batteries are rated slightly differently (suitable for stop/start which the Auris has) but none of these differences would affect the basic operation.

it asks whether the car is a Japanese or a French build

how can you tell?

It's the first letter of the vin number, J means Japan, V means France.  See this link for more info...

Some good news ( I know you'll all have been worrying on this....). It struck me that the alternator is covered by the warranty I got whereas the Battery isn't. So, took to local garage and he thought it was the alternator (sounded noisy). Warranty approved it ( surprised how expensive the y are - nearly £200), it's fitted and no Battery light anymore. Chuffed.

That isn't to say I guess that the Battery isn't quite 100% but I can see how it goes. If it starts and runs fine with no warning light then I'm happy.

Thanks to eveyone for their help. Until the next time !!

If the first letter of the VIN is a 'J', it was made in Japan, if the first letter is a 'V', it was made in France.
