Hello

jf I take a 3year service plan with a dealer, is it tied to that dealer only?

what happens if I move away? Been quoted 790/3years to include mots, 3 services and 3 Battery health checks...

do you thinks it's worth it?

The Toyota servicing regime is 1 year or 10,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

So has the car been serviced on the time basis (every year - intermediate service at 1, 3, and 5 years, full service at 2 and 4 years), or on the mileage basis (every 10,000 miles)?

Which services (intermediate, full or full+) has the dealer quoted you for?

The Hybrid Health Check should be done free with every service after the 5 year new car warranty expires.

The following provides you with the service costs of Toyota's Fixed Price Service scheme - https://www.toyota.co.uk/caring-for-your-toyota/service-and-maintenance/car-servicing.json

You will l also note from the same link, that cars over 5 years old can take advantage of Toyota's Essential Care scheme. However with this you may have to pay additionally for options like a brake fluid change (which should be done every two years).

I would presume that the car has been serviced for you prior to sale.

If you move away, you should be able to cancel the service plan for an admin fee, and, if you wish, begin another one with another dealer.

Really you need to come back to us to say exactly which services the dealer has quoted for (ie, two intermediates and one full) before members are able to advise.

A couple of things with service plans - 1) they fix your servicing costs for the duration of the plan (for example Toyota re-jigged their service regime last year and increased prices), and quite often, there may be discounts on any additional parts, accessories, etc, and sometimes labour.

Moved to the Prius club.

Hi

from what was discussed, the car was serviced as per schedule on miles, done 48k.

car to be 'fully' serviced and mot'd before I picked it up as it was due a service.

car is 62 plate so reading your links I'm questioning whether to sign up for a service plan at that price or just do it via the essential care ?

in that case I should be able to book it as and when and wherever?

Don't see why the dealership can't include the Essential Care services within the service plan, plus whatever brake fluid changes are required (due every two years) - why not go back to them and raise the query.
