Prius Gen 3 Oil change

hi,

we live in the pacific Fiji islands which has a very tropical weather. we hardly get freezing temps and hottest can go to 35C. we have many japanense 2nd hand prius here. what would be the best recommended oil for this. ow-20 is recommended by manual but some issues have been faced by other prius owners when using this. low performance, engine high rev, low mileage etc. 

your advise and assistance would be appreciated

You should consider Mobil-1 or Castrol Edge Full synthetic 5W-30.  Do you get the Australian brands Nulon, Penrite, STP or Valvolene in Fiji?

yes we do have Australian brand Penrite but its ow-20 fully synthetic. do you reckon i use this for next change or go with the fully synthetic 5w-30.

As your temperatures get to mid 30's (or more?), I'd go with full synthetic 5W-30.

so is australian penrite 5w-30 fully synthetic good for my prius 2010

Should be, but double check its specs against the (min) specs Toyota recommend in the owners manual. 

My manual says API SL "Energy Conserving", SM "Energy Conserving" or ILSAC multi-grade. 

I use API SL/CF ASEA A3/B4 in mine.

Penrite do a Enviro+ Full Synthetic 5W-30 which would be suitable.

Note, I buy mine only when it is on special for 40% - 50% off. Couldn't pay full price, hurts my wallet too much.

I saw there were two Enviro+. One looks like it is geared toward Euro cars and is more expensive.
