T25 heater display switch back light off

Have been fiddling with the Toyota over this weekend with a few jobs, most of which have been sorted.

However one problem was never rectified. Way before Christmas I sourced a heater control display from eBay in order to replace the existing one whereby the internal light had gone out on the board behind the heater direction dial. The idea was either to use that unit or get a few spare bulbs out of it.

After reinstalling it the light had failed on that unit too. After splitting the unit and swapping bulbs around that worked it still failed to light up. Went back to the original unit and still the same (including swapping bulbs around).

Both units have the same issue and I assume that either it is a common fault with the unit or possibly something else (a fuse). I would have thought that the latter is highly unlikely.

Any ideas on this would really be appreciated as it was a cold and disappointing afternoon yesterday after that.

Just to clarify it is the back light to the heater direction dial (the left hand dial of the three on the unit) and just the billy basic a/c unit not climate on a T25.

Hopefully a pointer or two would help locate the issue.

Oh man I went through exactly the same ordeal even down to getting a s/h unit. I had bought new main dealer bulbs as well. All I can contribute is to make sure both plugs are fully pushed home and that the bulbs are inserted correctly. Did you swap one that you know is working to that slot? I'd you have it has to be the plug..Not very helpful I know

Trust me you aren't going through all that faff without making sure everything is nice and tight as it should.

I don't know how many times I rotated the bulbs on both units and each and every time it is always that slot (the heater director one) that doesn't work. bulbs are fine.

I really think it is a unit fault as both units did exactly the same thing no matter what I did. Perhaps even a common fault.

I hear ya. I must've got lucky so as that's the same bulb/slot that wouldn't work on mine either. I think it was fourth time the charm for me. Hope you get it sorted
